Mild Steel (MS) Slabs are wide, rectangular semi-finished casting products solidified through continuous slab casters from liquid steel refined in basic oxygen furnaces (BOF) or electric arc furnaces (EAF). They serve as the primary raw material for rolling into hot-rolled coils and heavy plates. Conforming to chemical parameters specified under IS 2062, ASTM A36, and SAE 1006–1018, slabs feature thicknesses between 150 mm and 300 mm, widths spanning 900 mm to 2,500 mm, and lengths up to 12 meters, supplied with conditioned and flame-scarfed surfaces. Major producers include Tata Steel, JSW Steel, JSPL, SAIL, and AM/NS India.
