Mild Steel (MS) Blooms are large-format semi-finished steel products produced via continuous strand casting (CCM) or hot rolling of heavy cast ingots. Characterized by a square or rectangular cross-section where the width and thickness are generally greater than 160 mm (typically 160 × 160 mm up to 350 × 450 mm), blooms exhibit high internal structural density, uniform solidification, and low inclusion rates. Supplied in structural and carbon grades like IS 2062 (E250, E350), SAE 1018, and EN series, in lengths from 4 to 12 meters with flame-cut ends. Primary producers include SAIL, JSPL, Tata Steel, and RINL (Vizag Steel).
