Electrolytic Tinplate (ETP) consists of cold rolled, low-carbon steel strip coated on both sides with high-purity metallic tin applied via a continuous acid or alkaline electrolytic deposition process, followed by thermal reflowing to develop a lustrous tin-iron alloy layer. It is non-toxic, resistant to food acids, formable, and easily soldered or lacquered. Available in single reduced (SR) and double reduced (DR) tempers (T1 to T5, DR8, DR9) conforming to IS 1997, ASTM A623/A624, and JIS G3303, with tin coating masses from 1.1/1.1 g/m² to 11.2/11.2 g/m² (differential or equal) and thicknesses from 0.14 mm to 0.40 mm in stone, bright, or matte finishes. Major mill makes include Nippon , JFE, Tata Tinplate (TCIL), JSW Steel, and POSCO.
